I had a grand plan for a night run with my nephew. The route was planned out but just as I changed into my gear, the rain came. One nutrition bar later, I laced up my Asics and stepped onto Drago (my treadmill). It was quite late and I toyed with the idea of doing a cardio workout instead but stuck to the plan instead. In an attempt to replicate my last road run, I started running after a very brief walk. I didn’t intend to run the whole 2.5 mile distance but wanted to keep the walking as brief as possible. The Nike+ Running app was getting its first use here and almost halfway through the run, I realised that the darn calibration was off by a quarter-mile. At the very end, I reset it to the factory setting and hopefully it will be closer to correct the next time around. Honestly, I’m not going to lose any sleep over this margin of error. According to the treadmill, I covered 2.5 miles and that actually puts me slightly ahead of schedule.
Afterwards, I completed thirty-six walking lunges as part of Holly Perkins’ Thirty Days of Lunges project without dumbbells. I did them with my arms held up above my head like Holly did in the video. Unfortunately, I rushed them a bit which wasn’t very smart, especially after a run. They really started to hurt after number twenty and I’m sure than my form was terrible. However, I couldn’t let the day pass without doing my quota. As a result, I completely forgot to do the Exercise TV’s Sports Cool Down video and just moseyed to the shower. Honestly, my legs didn’t hurt that much from the run and I believe that this is because of the walking lunges. They’re getting stronger every day and I hope they’ll be able to carry me in throughout the next race at one pace. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses! This was My Fitness Revolution: Day 383.
