The change in weather is adding an interesting twist to my sessions. See, the treadmill is in the garage. The house is holding a lovely temperature while the garage is on the cooler side. This doesn’t mean I’m not sweating. Oh no, my face looked like it got whacked with a glycerin-soaked rag. The interesting twist is the sudden need to use the loo during a session. This is not only distracting but very inconvenient. I used the loo before I started but at the fifteenth minute, just as I was about to bump up the speed to 4.0, my bladder alarm went off. Bollocks!
I had two choices. The first was to break the routine and use the loo, then either resume with a run at 4.0 or brisk-walk at 3.5. The next option was crank the speed to 4.0, focus on my running form and ignore the screaming bladder. I chose the latter and was actually able to not only run for five minutes at 4.0, but another five minutes of brisk walking at 3.0 before I had to go. Getting off in the midst of my routine was murder. My calves were in agony but I massaged them a little before getting back to business. The rest of the session was good. My stats are crawling back to where they were before my two-day break and there was no pain. I was listening to Johnny’s House on iheartradio and it was awesome. Dawn will bring a new day and even though I’m not yet leaner, I’m feeling better about my fitness future. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
