Last Big Run Before The Race

A Goal Without a PlanToday made it four days to the race and my designated workout was a ‘long’ run.  My goal was 4km around the neighbourhood and wearing the Mizuno Wave Creation 12 running shoes.  The air was crisp so I wore a hoodie and promised myself to take it easy.  My route was full of distractions because it was Halloween.  There was a lot of traffic, driveway parties, playful dogs and costumed folks of all sizes.  The activity seemed to hit critical mass as I neared home, so I finished the last half kilometre on the treadmill.  The shoes worked quite well and may be ready for Sunday with a bit more pounding on the asphalt.  Also, I created a playlist for the 5k and it’s really good.  The beats are perfect for my pace and have just the right kind of venom to get me going.  I love it so much!

Afterwards, I completed twenty-two walking lunges as part of Holly PerkinsThirty Days of Lunges.  I didn’t use any dumbbells to spare my lower body.  The last piece of activity was Exercise TV’s Sports Cool Down video and boy did I need it.  I even included a few stretches from other workouts for my glutes and hamstrings.  There was great, great temptation to throw in a Fitsugar Abs workout but I’ll save it for tomorrow.  This taking it easy stuff is actually pretty hard.  This was My Fitness Revolution: Day 369.  No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
