It’s with a great sense of pride and relief to tell you that I stuck to Holly Perkins’ schedule on this particular Saturday. I hit the treadmill for a brisk cardio walk and followed up with three sets of thirty All 4’s Crunches. Once again, I was laid out on the floor after the crunches but felt exhilarated to complete the tasks properly. I don’t like to mess up my own schedule, far the less for skipping her workouts. This was the last workout for the week, and quite frankly I was relieved. I needed Day 7 to fully recover in order to follow the Midsection Makeover Program.
Monday, Day 8, was supposed to be when I fully recommitted to complete every single workout without fail…until 3:00 pm when the news hit. The Boston Marathon had been bombed. I was distraught and became physically ill. It was traumatic and I couldn’t bring myself to put on my workout gear. The very thought of getting on the treadmill brought tears to my eyes. As the running community pulled itself together, so did I and would rejoin the program at Day 9 for Boston. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
