My Fitness Revolution: Days 197 to 201

The past five days have been pretty good.  I decided to integrate The Jane Fonda Workout Record with 10-minute Arm Circuit with Holly Perkins from FitSugar.  It made the sessions on Days 198 and 200 longer as well as tougher.  I use 2lb weights for arm movements on the treadmill.  So I endeavoured to use 5lb weights for the Arm Circuit.  This fits Holly’s instruction to challenge ourselves.  It’s also good to do push-ups again and feels great to use the heavier weights.  This may sound silly but I do very well when I don’t have to count reps.  It’s weird, I know but one of the reasons I loved to use a personal trainer.  Or at the very least a recorded voice to tell me when to stop or go.  Good ones give encouragement without insults.  Never settle for anything else.

On Friday, I start Week 4 of Robert Ullrey’s C25K podcast.  I’m excitedly nervous, as this one introduces five-minute runs.  Another plus is the arm movements which include a couple from LiveStrong’s Michelle Trapp.  They help me to pass the time between runs and not think about the pain.  Oh yes, there’s pain but not so bad that I can’t cope.  It’s a good sign that the muscles are being worked and whipped into shape.  Of course, I’ll take a rest day if it gets too much for the healing powers of Absorbine Jr., which has been a godsend thus far.  I haven’t weighed myself yet because it’s too early for that and not my benchmark.  My goal is a pair of jeans.  They’re beautiful and resting in my closet.  If I can slide them on easily, then I’ll know I’m on the right track.  This isn’t a quick-fix intensive program but a change that was sorely needed.  We are own worst enemies.  Once that fact is recognised and accounted for, nothing can stand in the way of success in anything.  No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
