My Fitness Revolution: Days 222 to 227

It’s been almost a week since my last fitness update and it’s been a tough one.  The sinus trouble was quite bad and while Theraflu gave relief, it also made me drowsy.  Despite that hurdle, I stuck to the schedule.  Week 6 of the Robert Ullrey C25K podcast was completed on Day 223 and I started Week 7 on Day 227.  These featured twenty-five minute continuous runs.  I walk at a Speed of 3mph (Pace 20:00 min/m) and run at 4mph (Pace 15:00 min/m).  This allows me to cover at least two miles every session.  My current goal is 3.11 miles (5km), obviously.  When I can do that comfortably on a regular basis, it’ll be time to train for a longer distance.

I didn’t exercise at all on Days 224 and 225 because my complete attention was required elsewhere.  That’s just the way it goes sometimes.  The rest was beneficial although inconvenient.  On Day 222, I only had time for part of The Jane Fonda Workout Record (1982) but completed the Arm Circuit with Holly Perkins from FitSugar.  Then, on Day 226 I reversed it completing Miss Jane but skipping out the last two reps with Miss Holly.  I’m pleasantly surprised how important these workouts have become.  At first, they were very difficult because of residual fatigue from the running but now they’re indispensible for stretching the leg muscles.  There’s still some stiffness but it’s not as unbearable as it once was.  Just in case, I apply Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel to my lower legs before a run.  By the way, Miss Jane’s abdominal exercises are merciless but very effective.  I’m happy to say that I can do them all, including the yoga poses at the very end.  No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
