There was a late start on Day 292. I had intended to do The Jane Fonda Workout (1982) but time got away from me, so I decided to take another crack at the Fitsugar Total-Body 10-Minute Workout with Holly Perkins. Honestly, I was still recovering from the last time but couldn’t let the day end without doing something. To avoid getting completely sore, I decided to take it easy and do the marginally easier versions of the routines. In addition, I followed up with her Exercise TV Sport Cool Down video to stretch out the stiff muscles. It worked mostly and at least I didn’t have to resort to painkillers and/or liniment.
Day 293 ended up being rather stormy, so the run would have to be on the treadmill. Once again, I aimed for a three-mile run and (brace yourself) I did it! After a five-minute brisk walk, I bumped up the speed and didn’t slow down until the Nike+ Running app told me that I had crossed three miles. After I hit the halfway point, doubt crept in. I started to contemplate if it might not be better to walk the last half mile, but realised that I only needed to push to thirty-five minutes and I should be able to hit my goal. The app’s voice started the countdown at 400 metres. At that point, I stopped thinking and just kept running until the voice told me I’d reached three miles. It was exhilarating and probably the sweetest cool-down walk I’ve taken in a while. The very best part is that I went past 5km in under an hour. Now I’ve got to do that on the road. I followed up with the 10 Minute Fitsugar Arm Circuit with 5lb weights and Sports Cool Down. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
