September Shape Up Days 19 to 20: No Pain, No Loss?

Day 19: Cardio of your choice 20 minutes and 10 minutes of Mixed Abs

The Key to FailureAs you all know, running is the Cardio of my choice and after a blazing run on Day 18, I was happy to dial it back a bit this time.  That didn’t happen because I set a PR of 6’11” for a kilometre.  Here I was thought that I was taking it easy, which is a welcome side-effect of the September Shape Up program.  It’s not that I’m faster but it feels awkward to run at a slower pace.  I was so happy to sweat it out on Drago that my appetite is whetted to get back out on the asphalt.  Firstly, I need to calibrate my Nike+ app because I’ve got an iPhone now.  It’s so great to have one less gadget to drag around.  Secondly, I want to know what kind of pace I can run without having to be concerned about falling off a treadmill.  You have no idea how much of an issue that can be sometimes.  Hopefully I’ll do this on my rest day because it’s not so much a workout as an experiment.  No, really.

I’ve become happily dependent on my workout videos and CD’s.  There’s something free about not having to count for myself.  Anyway, I had no idea what to do for 10 minutes of Mixed Absand hit YouTube.  Actually, I just hit Class FitSugar’s YouTube channel because those workouts are great and fit the time specification.  Hey, this is how I found Holly Perkins in the first place, right?  This Bikini Abs in 10 Minutes, Teddy Bass Workout video looked challenging but doable.  However, after burning up the treadmill the first plank-based exercises were downright difficult.  I fell a couple times and even sat out half of the Plank with Open Twist set.  I’ll definitely revisit this workout but beforehitting the treadmill.  This was My Fitness Revolution: Day 327.

Day 20: Total Tone 360

I love this workout from the Fitness 360 DVD.  To me, it’s a perfect non-running workout because there’s a little bit of everything and I get to use weights.  This workout had a big milestone for me because I was able to use the 8lb hand weights only.  I had a hard time with the Reverse Flyes, but everything else was excellent.  The twisted abs exercise was tough too and my abs had not fully recovered from the Teddy Bass Workout, so they’re very tender now.  The September Shape Up has definitely stepped up the intensity and rightfully so because we’re supposed to be stronger, faster and much fitter by October 1st.  My metabolism was in overdrive all day long and I’ve been training myself to snack and drink more water.  It’s getting tough and I’ve been daydreaming of a spa day to celebrate the program’s completion.  They say ‘no pain, no gain’ but it’s more like ‘no pain, no loss’ of extra weight, flab and fear.  This was My Fitness Revolution: Day 328.
