I didn’t fight it with loads of medicine but let this sinus attack run its course and took a few days off to focus on other things. Now I’m refreshed, renewed and ready to get back to my fitness regime. As a result, I’ve decided to show you my February 2013 workout plan. I’ve put one up before but that was at the month’s end. However, I’m so determined to stick to the schedule that I’m making myself beholden to you all. Congratulations? If it looks familiar, then it should because I based it on Holly Perkins’ September Shape Up project because it’s a great way to kick-start or restart workouts. However, there are a few minor tweaks like the addition of incline walks and Fitsugar Flow Yoga workouts to complement her Yoga Energizer routine from the Fitness 360 DVD.
My body is probably tight from the lack of activity, so I started out with yoga two days in a row. I also need to drink more water. It’s hard to drink water when hot tea is preferable but the effort must be made. Workouts are extremely difficult without the proper hydration. I need at least 40oz of water in me, not to mention during and after the session. Otherwise there are muscle pains and general fatigue. My last weigh-in was quite a surprise as I was sure to have gained weight but instead lost a half-pound. Not that I’m making a big deal out of a half-pound but with my affinity for brown sugar over the last week or so and no exercise at all? I thought for sure that I’d gained at least two or three. Perhaps this is proof that muscle burns calories even when you’re not exercising.
February 16th to 24th has been highlighted in green because that’s when NASCAR takes over the city for Budweiser Speedweeks. I’m (hopefully) going to be in full motorsports mode and won’t have time or energy for the scheduled workouts. Unlike the last time, I intend to stick to my healthy eating rules i.e. no sugar, no soda, no fast food, etc. My family is so supportive that even at the speedway last weekend for the Rolex 24; my nephew prepared a cup of coffee for me with Splenda instead of sugar. They know me so well. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not rushing anything but with no 5K races planned for the near future, it’s a welcome return to a normal schedule…except for the auto races, of course. Still, I’ve got a date with the treadmill set for Monday and I am so looking forward to it. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses! (My Fitness Revolution: Days 459 to 464)
