Stretching, Jumping, Lifting, Fun!

It took a while but I’m definitely in the fitness groove.  Thankfully, there wasn’t any more soreness!  I was surprised that I didn’t need to take too many breaks during the Holly Perkins’ Total Tone 360 and Cardio 360 workouts.  Usually, I’d have to stop the DVD a couple times at least during the initial warm-ups to catch my breath.  Could it be that during this time of relative inactivity, I actually achieved another level of conditioning?  I used the 5lb pair of dumbbells but will start working the heavier ones back into the workout.  The yoga has been really great and surprisingly challenging.  I was supposed to do The Jane Fonda Workout (Beginners) today, but realised that I didn’t schedule Fitsugar’s Flow Yoga with Ursula Vari for this week.  That was an oversight on my part.  Miss Jane’s workout is heavily influenced by yoga and encourages a lot of stretching but I’m been really enjoying Miss Ursula’s instruction.  Sometimes it’s good to just go with the flow, you know?  I’m happy to sweat and feel the burn, no matter who’s calling the shots.

Motivation

When I started this, a promise was made to my family that I would not end up looking like a scarecrow i.e. weak and bony.  Since I’m fitting in small-sized clothes, and my jeans slide onto my body without the need for jumping or a crowbar; I can take my time now.  It’s not quite maintenance but there’s no rush.  I do want to run a 10k or half-marathon by the end of the year.  However, I’m going to take my time and work towards that goal safely.  There’s a controversy regarding the difference between fitness and thinness.  They’re not mutually exclusive!  I’m an ethnic woman in my mid-thirties, and don’t want to fight my DNA.  I’m small and thick, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be strong and fit.  Eating well and regular exercise are the only ways to achieve and maintain that.  No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
