Surviving Christmas

I need to love myself.

Motivation

I had a plan to exercise this Christmas.  Well, that didn’t happen.  I wasn’t sick or tired but chose to hang out with my family than sweat it out on a treadmill by myself.  Honestly, I think there’s nothing better than vegging out with my favourite people during the holidays.  This is even better when you add good food too.  Oh, and the food was very good.  In fact, it was so good that I dragged myself to do a Fitsugardouble workout on Boxing Day: Flow Yoga with Ursula Vari, followed by Bikini Abs with Teddy Bass.  The best part is that my sister joined me for the yoga and really enjoyed it.  I’m so happy there’s somebody else who’s gaga for yoga in the house besides me.  I chilled out the next day, but made sure to do the Cardio 360 workout from Holly PerkinsFitness 360 DVD with 8lb dumbbells on Friday.  It didn’t occur to me until I was halfway through the session that perhaps a lighter pair would have been a better choice; but I just monitored myself to make sure that there was no risk of injury.

Surviving ChristmasOn Saturday the weather was glorious.  Although the wind was cool, it was very sunny and I hit the streets for a brisk walk.  I clocked 2.4 miles in about thirty-eight minutes and purposely didn’t use any apps to track my pace, etc.  The goal was to get out and enjoy being outside.  It felt absolutely fantastic and I chatted with my brother on the phone the whole time so that made it fun as well.  After the walk, I christened the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar – Extreme Edition.  Positioned on the door frame, I was able to do five very pathetic pull-ups.  I probably moved only an inch or two but at least it’s a start.  Then I put the bar on the floor in order to complete ten proper push-ups and ten dips.  Ooh, my triceps were sending me complaint letters after that one, but I recovered in no time.  Sunday was my usual day for rest and relaxation, although that seems to be the theme this week.  Despite that, the workouts (scattered as they were) have been vigorous yet enjoyable.  However, I haven’t been too good with my diet.

Motivation

This week, I’ve had more sugar than in the past few months.  In addition, I’ve happily had soda, baked desserts and greasy fast food.  I certainly haven’t drunk as much water as I should and have already started to remedy that mistake.  All the other indulgences were just me enjoying the season and all its tastiness.  No shame here, people.  I also signed up for the Daytona 5K.  I’m simultaneously nervous, excited and terrified.  It’s going to be awesome!  One of the best parts of this past week has been the discovery that I’m definitely back in small-ville.  My sister gave me a couple new exercise tops and they (size: small) fit perfectly.  I haven’t stepped on the scale in a couple of weeks and don’t plan to until January 1, 2013.  However, feeling strong and enjoying clothes are the best measures of your fitness level, not what the scale says.  These were My Fitness Revolution Days: 425 to 429.  No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
