On the advice of an article on Active.com, I rested on Friday except for twenty-four walking lunges with 8lb hand weights that are part of Holly Perkins’ Thirty Days of Lunges. It felt really good to rest my body although I was a bit nervous about the lack of activity. Sunday is usually my rest day and having done so little this week, I felt odd and a little bit guilty. Today, I donned my Mizuno Wave Creation 12 running shoes and headed out for a 3km fartlek. I wore almost exactly what I plan on wearing tomorrow to make sure that there won’t be any discomfort or wardrobe malfunctions. Since morning air has been so crisp lately, I wore a vest under my shirt. It was all about making sure that tomorrow won’t hold any surprises. The shoes have been properly broken in now and I’ll definitely use them for the race.
The weather was beautiful and I was able to run outside and actually reached the 3km mark at my house. Interestingly enough, my best pace was running towards the house when I wasn’t really ‘feeling’ it. I’m going to take my time tomorrow and pace myself but not too much. Today’s quota of walking lunges was twenty-five, which I did fairly easily without holding any dumbbells. I savoured every moment of the Exercise TV Sports Cool Down video and added a few extra stretches that I’ve learned from other workouts, just to make sure that I didn’t do myself any harm today. I’m making sure to drink a lot of water tonight so that I’ll be properly hydrated tomorrow. Of course, I’ll have to hit the hay early tonight because I need to start my day very early tomorrow. I am very excited about the Paint The Towne Palmer College 5K, and still just a bit nervous. Hopefully all those feelings will disappear at the starting line. Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me tomorrow, kids. These were My Fitness Revolution Days: 371 to 372. No retreat, no surrender and no excuses!
