Why People Are Crazy For Insanity

Why People Are Crazy For Insanity

There are many, many pre-fab fitness programs on the market.  Insanity by Beach Body Fitness is one of the most popular and one of my best friends is an avid user. So instead of a gushy paid testimonial from the commercials here’s her personal Insanity experience.  Maybe Insanity is just the kind of crazy your routine needs?

INSANITY WORKS BUT NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! by Ateesha F. Mohamed

Two and a half years ago, I was bored with my routine of running 3 to 4 times a week and wanted something new and challenging. I saw the infomercial for Insanity and decided to try it but was skeptical. Also, I really wanted something to focus on helping me get rid of the little lumps I was noticing in my mid-region (you know those love handles).

I did the Fit Test and thought it was not bad. Month 1 was not too intense (at least for me since I could run 4 miles in 32 minutes flat). I did notice my middle region getting smaller and tighter after 2 weeks. Month 2 was really insane! I lost about 8 lbs at the end of the complete 9 weeks and was proud of my abs and my toned arms and legs (even my thighs were smaller). Shaun T is a great motivator during the workouts but sometimes you want to just punch him in the face especially when you are tired and your muscles are aching.

It was great to just have to plop in the DVDs while I was traveling and able to maintain my workout routine from my hotel room (which was not always the case when I was just running). It is an INTENSE 9 weeks as you work out 6 days a week and get Sunday off. I really liked the fact that the work out time includes stretching and warming up. So when planning your day, you know EXACTLY how long you need (I did Insanity before going to work each day). You also work up a great sweat and feel very accomplished at the end of each work out, especially in Month 2. I have to admit that you feel great at the end of each workout but it does not compare to the “runner’s high” after an intense 4 or 5-mile run.

I have continued to do Insanity and take a week off when I finish the complete 9-week cycle. In fact, I am just about to start the third week in Month 2. I no longer lose weight each time but it is an excellent work out and my body does not get used to it because Month 1 and Month 2 are different enough as the routine changes throughout the program. And every time, I need that little extra to lose the weight from Christmas and Thanksgiving (vacations and other holidays), Insanity has allowed me to do so and maintain my weight, size, flexibility, and stamina to the level I want to be at.

I would encourage people to try it and be patient and be aware of the time commitment required to stick with the routine. I saw results in the first 2 weeks but if you cannot complete each exercise and need to take more breaks, you may have to be more patient to see results. If you are not a “hard core” fitness enthusiast like myself, I recommend doing Insanity with a buddy or at a local gym. Insanity is not for everyone, but what do you have to lose? Try it! 🙂
